There are almost 73 000 inhabitants in the town which is located on the Odra River. Głogów is reconstructing the traces of its rich, over a thousand-year history. Reconstruction works are mainly concentrated on the prewar buildings. So far, the magnificence of the Głogów Princes’ Castle and Town Hall has been regained after 50 years. In the vicinity of the Town Hall, the new Old Town is becoming again the center of Głogów. The process of reconstructing the center of the town from scratch is a unique undertaking in Europe. Thanks to ecological investments, Głogów and its surroundings became a place where nature enthusiasts can spend time in an interesting way. The Głogów district is well-known for its landscape.
