Situated just south of Copenhagen, Ishøj is a modern expanding town of 21,000 inhabitants, as com-pared to a population of 3,000 30 years ago. Nevertheless, 75 per cent. of the area is still green areas or wetlands. Our beach, part of a 7 km beach park (Strandparken), is one of the finest in Denmark, offering plenty of opportunities for recreation and activity. Since its opening in 1996, ARKEN Museum of Modern Art has attracted a very large number of visitors from all corners of the world. Already before reaching the building, you will be fascinated by its ap-pearance. It is constructed in the form of a ship so close to the sea that you might think it had just been washed ashore. Worth a visit for its building as well as the art and design displayed there.
