Oakwell Stadium today is a far cry from the football ground graced the Grove Street site until the 1990's. Following the Hillborough Disaster in 1989 major football stadiums were forced to go all-seater. Work at Oakwell took place between 1992 and 1998. The result is a fantastic arena for both supporters at Oakwell, combining state-of-the-art stadium construction with excellent facilities. The South Stand was built prior to the 1995/6 season and replaced the original Pontefract Road End of Oakwell. At present it has a capacity of 4508 and is sponsored by Enterprise plc.
