Half-term Exploring
A really great stay at the Hubert House. Our plan was simple arrive lunchtime, head to Castle, sleep and go back up the very steep hill to finish the Castle next day. We dropped our bag off as we walked from station, headed up hill to Castle. Coming down was easy .. our room was lovely, clean and bright. We dined at Table to Table round the corner and slept like logs for 10 hours. Breakfast was mouth-watering and there was so much, could have eaten for hours. We left our bag there as we headed back up the hill to complete the Tunnel Tours. It was perfect, no pressure but with a warm homely feel. Thank you.

Sleeping Like King And Queen
We had our lucky day and got the George Suite. We felt like King and Queen. :-)

The Guest House is well located at the bottom of Dover Castle and a small walk to the city center and the seafront.

Our room was very clean and the host was very nice.

Fabulous Place To Stay Within Walking Distance To All We Wanted To See!
Lovely, perfect, comfy room (Room #5) and our friends were in the Georgian Suite which is beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here when you visit Dover. Carmen greeted us like friends and the house dog is lovely. This is excellent value for money and a great location.

Even Nicer Than Advertised
Our family room was even larger than we had anticipated- it could have easily accommodated 4 adults. The "continental" breakfast was outstanding- fresh fruit, delicious croissant, juice and terrific coffee. So accommodating about leaving our luggage before and after our reservation- they even brought it upstairs for us. Peter was very humble about his channel swimming but we loved hearing his stories. You exceeded our expectations- only wish we could have stayed longer in Dover

Clean, Comfortable And Twee
Have stayed in Guesthouses before in Dover & this is one of the better. It is a bit old fashioned and twee but very clean. Our room was very spacious although the bathroom was tiny and the shower head was broken. Peter as very kind and friendly, which is what you want with a guesthouse rather than an impersonal hotel.

Hubert House Guesthouse
A lovely period type property, with a charm of it's own. Hospitality was exemplary and made the stay nicer as I was travelling alone. The single room was small, but you can't have everything, as it was clean and well presented.

I would thoroughly recommend them to anybody who wants to stay in Dover

Value For Money

Great Place To Stay
Me and my boyfriend wanted to visit Dover and have a break from our busy lives in London. We booked the suite and stayed in this amazing place for one night. The room was simply amazing and the bed super comfy. The owner of the hotel is a really sweet woman which took care of us with everything we would need (an earlier check-in included!). The breakfast was also included in the price of the room. It was a continental breakfast with bread, croissants, marmalade and jam, coffee, milk, cereals, and so on. I highly recommend this Hotel.

Comfortable & Convenient
We spent two nights here and were very pleased. Peter, our host, was very welcoming and made our small dog feel at home. The breakfast was lovely and Peter even brought up a breakfast tray the night before our 6am departure to make sure we didn't go hungry.

The location is fantastic (especially with Dover's oldest pub next door!) and the room was comfortable.

One Night Stay Good
A very nice guest house located close enough to walk to town centre. Beautiful and comfortable room, good service and facilities work well. For light sleeper, avoid room with window facing road as not double glazed and very noisy. Continental breakfast fairly basic-no cheese or cold meat, no bran cereal or granola. Pastries, Muesli, Fruit and Yogurt fine.

Response from Hotel
dear sir, thank you for your review, sorry you found the room noisy, I must be used of it, but, as we are grade 2 listed I can,t have double glazing, secondly, we do have all bran ?, and saying we have a basic continental when we have breakfast awards surprises me, not sure what else you want, you didn,t mention freshly ground coffee, freshly baked pastries, prunes, grapefruit, fresh and dried fruit and nuts, mixed cereals, muesli, local fresh bread , a choice option of cooked breakfasts on offer if required? sorry./ you missed all this/

Comfortable Stay
The room we had for a one night stay was the Georgian Suite. This was very roomy and comfortable with a large four poster bed and an en-suite bathroom. The continental breakfast was ok but if a cooked breakfast had been included it would have scored 5 stars. Room For Family Of 5
We stayed over en route to see Dover Castle and had a lovely stay -- HH was ideal for us because they had a room that fit a family of five (double bed, two singles and a smaller camp bed) so we didn't have to pay for two rooms. Breakfast was continental with a terrific selection. All in all a nice place to stay and very handy for the ferry terminal and the castle.

We stayed on the opening night of the Olympics and DOver was alive with the Big Screen too. The room we had was elegantly furnished and "spot on". As the Bistro was closed we were directed to a selection of local restaurants and ended up at Blakes where the food and coder were good. We left too early to have the cooked breakfast we'd read about but knew that when booking but the cereal, yogurt and fruit got the day off to a good start - the bed was very comfortable.

Lovely Guesthouse, Bear In Mind The Stairs
My mother and I stayed here on a recent trip to Dover to explore the White Cliffs. Very well located close to both Dover Castle and the White Cliffs, this guesthouse offered us a clean, comfortable place to stay. For those with limited mobility, this guesthouse has a multitude of steep steps, which we did not know about before arriving. We found ourselves quite out of breath when we reached our room near the top level. The continental breakfast was lovely and the owner was very kind and knowledgeable.

At 18:57 hours on 26 May 1940, the signal was received to start Operation Dynamo the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force and French troops from Dunkirk's beaches on the northern coast of France. The network of underground tunnels beneath Dover Castle became the nerve centre of the whole operation. The best estimate was that only 45,000 of the troops could be brought back, yet Winston Churchill announced to the House of Commons on 4 June that 338,000 troops had been saved, despite the operation itself coming under attack.Today, you can experience life as it was lived by the 700 personnel based here in the worst days of the World War II. Relive the drama as a wounded pilot is taken into the underground hospital to fight for his life and see the Command Centre that Churchill visited to see the plans that helped lead to Allied victory.
