Hotel Description

Brendan Chase, a Victorian house dating from the 1850s at 1 College Road, Windermere, has been welcoming visitors from all over the world since the 1930s and perhaps before. It was acquired by David Maloney in December 2003. Brendan Chase is on College Road, a quiet street without parking restrictions just around the corner from the centre of Windermere, with public houses and a variety of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets close at hand. We are the most conveniently situated Windermere bed and breakfast or guest house with the railway and bus stations and Tourist Information Centre approximately 150 yards away. Our central, but quiet location makes Brendan Chase the perfect place to stay and from which to explore Windermere, Bowness or the Lake District National Park whether arriving by car or public transport.

All In, Great Fun.
Infamous after appearing on the “Hotel Inspector” TV show, this place was a mini Fawlty Towers with it’s owner, David, very much up for playing Basil Fawlty. I warmed to his eccentricity quickly and could see that he is a genuine chap who simply doesn’t hold back saying exactly what he’s thinking at the time. He was really interested in our trip, did some washing and drying (for nothing) and showed real interest in the bikes. The rooms were adequate (though not ensuite) and breakfast was decent (and amusing to here David’s sigh if anything non-standard was ordered). All in, great fun.

Owner is very nice, helpful and friendly to us. However Take away food is not allowed which is inconvient for a family with young children. I hope owner will consider it.

Response from Hotel
It must be appreciated that we offer bedrooms not dining rooms. As such and in common with all the guest houses we do not allow takeawys etc to be brought into the house. If guests want to bring their own food into the house or cook they should book self catering accommodation.. Much damage to linen and carpets has been caused in the past . Within fifty yards of the house there many places to eat so it is not necessay to bring such foods into the house. I object to having to clean up the mess and deal with the smell which has been caused by guests who do not follow this reasonable request.

Good Advice
The hotel owner kindly advised us where to go and what to do around the lake district. According to his advice, we could really enjoyed our summer holidays.

Carus Green Golf Club - Kendal - Golf

Distance 6.83 miles (10.93 km)
Carus is renowned for many things but above all it is the friendliness of the club that keeps people coming back. As the club grows, the course improves, the facilities advance and the driving range is built, the key constant for us is that the welcome for members and visitors alike is as warm as ever. Come find out for yourself. Beautifully situated par 70 parkland course with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. At times testing with the rivers kent, mint and sprint meandering through the course, it offers challenges to every level of golfer.
